A Joint Project of Earth Day Network and Center for SCREEN-TIME Awareness
Did you know that the average television consumes 200-300 kilowatt-hours per year, accounting for an estimated 3-4% of
the annual electronic usage in the USA.
That's a whopping 46.9 billion kilowatt-hours a year! Or, in environmental terms, approximately 36 million tons of carbon
dioxide, a global-warming causing pollutant.
Sign up your classroom for TV Turn Off Week! Earth Day Network is offering a prize to the top three schools with the greatest
emissions and energy savings. Your results will be posted on our website. Register for the EDN Educators Network and find
out more!
