Welcome to the BERNICE FREITAG TOUR! Bernice Freitag has spent years chasing her All America Dream! Her goal has been to travel from sea to shining sea and visit all 50 states. Today Bernice honored Sandpoint by selecting our community as her OFFICIAL GEM STATE stop. One of Bernice's darling daughters was kind enough to inform us of the Freitag (FRY-TAG) Grand Finale Tour of America. It was an honor to surprise Bernice while she was sitting down to breakfast at the Edgewater with her daughters; Lorie, Julie, Susie, and Connie. I presented her with a Proclamation designating Tuesday, June 19th, as BERNICE FREITAG DAY and with great pleasure appointed her an HONORARY CITIZEN of SANDPOINT, IDAHO and a ROVING AMBASSADOR of GOOD WILL for the CITY of SANDPOINT. The Citizens of Sandpoint can be confident that this honor was bestowed on a remarkable and wonderful individual and she will be a representative that we can all point to with pride. Her visit to Idaho is the conclusion of an odyssey that began over 25 years ago. Bernice, I'm glad we met today and whenever someone talks a traveling story; I will think of you and smile. I have nothing to offer you except Good Wishes and Godspeed! I will see you again Somewhere Over the Rainbow!
"Somewhere Over the Rainbow"
music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by E.Y. Harburg
Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high,
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.
Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly.
Birds fly over the rainbow.
Why then, oh why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?
Good Luck Always, Ray
